About Gem Lake
Gem Lake is the lone lake in the Lumpy Ridge and East Estes area of this data set. It sits at 8,826 feet and is reached by a moderate 1.8-mile one-way hike from Lumpy Ridge Trailhead.
The appeal here is not a broad alpine basin. Gem Lake is part of the rocky Lumpy Ridge landscape, with views back toward Estes Park and a very different texture from the glacier-carved lakes deeper in the park.
NPS hiking lists Gem Lake as a Lumpy Ridge Trailhead hike, separate from the Bear Lake and Glacier Gorge trail networks that define many other east-side lake visits.
