About Ypsilon Lake
Ypsilon Lake sits below Ypsilon Mountain at 10,542 feet, reached by a hard 4.0-mile one-way hike from Ypsilon Lake Trailhead. It anchors a cluster of north-side lake objectives that also includes Chipmunk Lake, Chiquita Lake, and Spectacle Lakes.
The lake is close enough to be a strong day hike, but it sits in a rougher, less casual part of the east side than the Bear Lake Corridor. Expect a mountain route rather than a roadside lake experience.
NPS and USGS both document the 1982 Lawn Lake flood as a major hydrologic event in this drainage, which gives the quiet lake basins above Horseshoe Park an unusually visible park-history layer.
