About Lake of Glass (Glass Lake)

Lake of Glass sits above The Loch on the Sky Pond approach, at 10,817 feet and about 5.5 miles one-way from Glacier Gorge Trailhead. It is below the final reach to Sky Pond and near the Timberline Falls section of the route.

This lake is often experienced as part of the climb to Sky Pond, but it deserves attention on its own. It marks the transition from Loch Vale's lower forested basin into a sharper, rockier alpine setting.

NPS describes The Loch as part of scenic Loch Vale, reached from Glacier Gorge after the Alberta Falls and Mills Junction area; Sky Pond and Lake of Glass continue higher in the same drainage.
