Lone Pine Lake

On the map, Lone Pine Lake belongs to the North Inlet / Grand Lake Area (West) section of Rocky Mountain National Park, at 9,896 feet on the west side of the Continental Divide. In this guide it is treated as a hard lake.

The North Inlet and Grand Lake area is west-side backcountry: longer valleys, broad drainages, and fewer quick turnarounds. It is a west-side lake. The approach from East Inlet TH is 5.5 miles one-way and belongs in the hard tier for this guide.

NPS distance tables place the North Inlet Trailhead near Grand Lake on the west side, where long valley approaches replace the short, crowded Bear Lake Road pattern.
