About Sprague Lake
Sprague Lake is one of Rocky Mountain National Park's easiest lake visits: a low-grade loop beside Bear Lake Road, at 8,685 feet, only 0.1 miles from the Sprague Lake trailhead. Park accessibility information identifies the trail as wheelchair accessible, and NPS materials describe benches and lake overlooks around the loop.
The lake is useful for more than a quick stop. From the east shoreline, visitors get open views toward the Continental Divide, and the wetland edge can be good habitat for wildlife. It is a calm counterpoint to the steeper Bear Lake basin hikes nearby.
NPS identifies the Bear Lake Road Corridor as the gateway to many of the park's most visited destinations, including Bear Lake, Sprague Lake, and the short hikes toward Dream and Emerald Lakes.
