Jewel Lake

Along Glacier Gorge Trail; near Mills Lake

Jewel Lake, Glacier Gorge / Bear Lake Corridor, Rocky Mountain National Park — 9942 ft elevation

About Jewel Lake

Jewel Lake sits close to Mills Lake in Glacier Gorge, at 9,942 feet and about 2.5 miles from Glacier Gorge Trailhead. It is smaller and easier to miss than Mills, but it belongs to the same trail corridor.

Think of Jewel Lake as part of the lower Glacier Gorge experience rather than a separate long objective. It adds a second water stop before the route steepens toward Black Lake and the higher basins beyond.

NPS trail tables show Glacier Gorge as the starting point for Alberta Falls, Mills Lake, Black Lake, The Loch, Sky Pond, and Andrews Glacier, so lakes here often sit on routes that continue well beyond a single shoreline.
