Nymph Lake

First lake on Emerald Lake Trail; lily pads in summer

Nymph Lake, Bear Lake Corridor, Rocky Mountain National Park — 9706 ft elevation

About Nymph Lake

Nymph Lake is the first lake on the Emerald Lake route from Bear Lake Trailhead. It sits at 9,706 feet, about 0.5 miles one-way from the trailhead, and is known for pond lilies that bloom across the water in summer.

This is a small lake, but it is an important one: it marks the first pause on the popular Nymph-Dream-Emerald chain. The approach is short and direct, with enough grade to remind hikers that the Bear Lake Corridor starts high and keeps climbing.

NPS identifies the Bear Lake Road Corridor as the gateway to many of the park's most visited destinations, including Bear Lake, Sprague Lake, and the short hikes toward Dream and Emerald Lakes.
