The Pool

Popular swimming hole; Fern Lake Trail start

The Pool, Moraine Park / Cub Creek, Rocky Mountain National Park — 8312 ft elevation

About The Pool

The Pool is a low-elevation water feature on the Fern Lake route, 1.7 miles from Fern Lake Trailhead and 8,312 feet above sea level. It is listed as an easy destination in the Moraine Park and Cub Creek area.

Because it sits early on the Fern Lake Trail, The Pool works well as a shorter objective or as a landmark on longer hikes toward Fern Lake, Spruce Lake, or Odessa Lake. It is a popular stop, but it is still part of a real park trail system with changing mountain conditions.

NPS hiking tables list Cub Lake and Fern Lake as east-side hikes from different trailheads, and the trail system between them helps make this area more connected than a single out-and-back.
